TIMS hospital Sanathnagar to be made accessible to public: KT Rama Rao
Hyderabad: K T Rama Rao, working President of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), on Friday, said the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) hospitals were conceived to provide world-class medical care to the people of Hyderabad on par with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Addressing the media after inspecting the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences facility at Sanathnagar, KTR said that while government hospitals such as Gandhi Hospital and Osmania General Hospital had long served as the primary healthcare support for the public, the BRS government introduced state-of-the-art TIMS hospitals to provide advanced treatment facilities comparable to corporate hospitals.
He stated that the Sanathnagar TIMS facility was constructed across 22 acres using advanced technology and international standards at an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore. According to him, TIMS hospitals were established in Sanathnagar, LB Nagar and Alwal to offer quality healthcare to poor and middle-class families, reports UNI.

KTR said the Sanathnagar TIMS complex consists of three blocks and includes 300 ICU beds, 16 modern operating theatres, MRI and CT scan facilities, dedicated emergency services, special VIP suites, research blocks, academic infrastructure and a large auditorium. He further stated that a modern parking system capable of accommodating 1,000 vehicles simultaneously had also been developed at the facility.
The BRS leader stated that a dedicated guest house for attendants of patients and a separate emergency ramp had also been constructed. He said facilities were being developed to support specialised kidney-related research and claimed TIMS was being built into one of the country’s largest public healthcare systems in terms of medical manpower.
KTR further said a 2,000-bed government hospital was under construction in Warangal and that Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences was also undergoing expansion on a large scale.
According to a UNI report, claiming that the project had been delayed after the change in government, he remarked that the hospital would have been completed two years ago had the KCR government remained in power.
He also recalled that the previous BRS government had established 350 Basti Dawakhanas across Telangana to provide healthcare services closer to residential localities.
KTR instructed officials to improve the functioning of elevators at the hospital and demanded that the present government complete the remaining construction works immediately and make the facility fully operational for the public at the earliest.
