UP Govt orders action against hospitals violating trauma centre norms

Lucknow- The Uttar Pradesh government has directed officials to issue notices to private hospitals displaying 'Trauma Centre' signboards without meeting the prescribed standards for trauma care facilities.
The directive was issued by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Friday while presiding over an official meeting. During the meeting, he instructed municipal corporations to intervene to remove these signboards.
“Signboards placed by private hospitals in the vicinity of government hospitals, which are typically directed at patients and their attendants, should also be removed,” he said, reports HT.
Calling for steps to be taken to make the state cancer-free, he stated that the foundation of an empowered state and a developed nation is laid solely through healthy citizens. Pathak added that the government is making comprehensive efforts to make the state cancer-free.
The Deputy Chief Minister stated that surgical services constitute an extremely important aspect of the medical field, and this initiative will prove to be highly effective for patients.
He was addressing a presentation meeting organised with the objective of further strengthening the Uttar Pradesh State Cancer Mission, the Uttar Pradesh Surgical Services Empowerment Mission, and the Uttar Pradesh Trauma and Emergency Network.
The meeting covered several other key points, including plans to establish 100-bed cancer hospitals in all 75 districts and for the government to launch a large-scale campaign for the early detection of the disease.
State Minister Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Kumar Ghosh, and senior officials and doctors from the Health Department were present at the meeting.
Medical Dialogues had recently reported that the Karnataka Government has approved a long-pending proposal to upgrade trauma care centres in two district hospitals and nine Taluk Hospitals. This move will provide a significant boost to healthcare infrastructure in the state's twin districts.
