Yogi Adityanath inaugurates charitable blood centre at IMA building in Gorakhpur
Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday inaugurated a Charitable Blood Centre at the Indian Medical Association (IMA) building in Gorakhpur, highlighting the role of medical organisations in expanding access to essential healthcare services.
Speaking at the inauguration, Adityanath appreciated the IMA’s efforts to extend its work beyond clinical practice through initiatives such as charitable blood banks and free outpatient departments (OPDs).
“Indian Medical Association is not only an all-India organisation of practising doctors. It has also fulfilled its social responsibility by starting blood banks and free OPDs in areas of Gorakhpur,” the Chief Minister said.
He said healthcare professionals contribute to society through government as well as private healthcare systems, while collective initiatives by professional organisations can provide additional support to communities.
“While doctors may practise individually through government or private setups, an organisation collectively running free OPDs or blood banks is an additional achievement in itself,” Yogi Adityanath said.
The newly inaugurated centre is part of the IMA’s charitable healthcare initiatives in Gorakhpur, with the organisation also operating free OPD services in the area. The Chief Minister said such institutional efforts can complement existing healthcare facilities and strengthen community-level support, reports TOI.
The inauguration comes amid other recent state interventions aimed at providing assistance to vulnerable families. Earlier this week, the administration in Basti district extended support to a family with four differently-abled children after their concerns regarding housing, education and basic amenities were brought to the government’s attention.
Following directions from the Chief Minister, the district administration facilitated assistance under various government schemes. The family was provided a house under the Kanshi Ram Awas Yojana, while wheelchairs were arranged for the differently-abled children to assist with mobility.
