MoS Health: India being developed as Medical Tourism Hub

Guntur: Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar said that India is being developed as a hub for medical tourism and the country has efficiently tackled the Coronavirus pandemic.

She participated in the review meeting with Andhra Pradesh Minister for Health Vidadala Rajini and health department officials at the APIIC towers in Mangalagiri near here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Bharati said that India's medical system is changing completely and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated many changes in the medical and health sectors.

The Minister said that under the National Health Mission, the Central government is extending adequate funds to the states and the state governments should spend the funds properly.

Stating that India tackled the Coronavirus in such a manner that all the world countries appreciated, Dr Bharati said that India is becoming a hub for medical tourism.

She assured to extend all the needed assistance in the medical sector to Andhra Pradesh.

Vidadala Rajini said that Andhra Pradesh has become ideal for other States in implementing the health scheme Arogyasri.

She said that many reforms were brought in the medical and health sector in the state.

Rajini said that AP had spent Rs 2,500 crore during the last financial year to implement the Arogyasri scheme of which the Centre had borne Rs 200 crore under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Both the Ministers reviewed the health schemes being implemented in the state with the officials.

Aarogyasri CEO Vinaychand, APMSIDC MS Muralidhar Reddy and Director of Health Hymavathi were among those who were present.

Later the Union Minister visited the AIIMS hospital in Mangalagiri and interacted with the doctors.
