DNB Post MBBS, Post Diploma Counselling Round 2: 3740 seats up for grabs
New Delhi: With the DNB counselling procedure for Round 1 being over, the National Board of examinations (NBE) has released the vacant indicative seat matrix for Round 2 counselling for admission to DNB courses this academic session.
As per the seat matrix, a total of 3,740 seats are available for candidates who are going to participate in Round 2 DNB counselling session. Out of 3,740, 2,820 are vacant for DNB Post MBBS and 920 are available for DNB Post Diploma candidates.
For both courses, the maximum number of vacancy is reported to be in the state of Maharashtra followed by Delhi and Karnataka
Seat Matrix Breakup for DNB Post MBBS Counselling Round 2
According to the indicative seat matrix released on 12th June 2020, a total of 2,820 seats are available for DNB Post MBBS candidates for Round 2 counselling session.
The maximum number of seats are available in the speciality of General Medicine with 498 seats followed by Anaesthesiology with 363 seats.
Third comes General Surgery with 335 seats. Candidates who wish to opt for Paediatrics have 298 seats for grabs in this counselling round. Obstetrics and Gynaecology has 274 and Orthopaedic Surgery has 185 seats.
Ophthalmology candidates have 175 seats to fill. For Radio-Diagnosis, candidates have 153 seats to compete for.
The Direct 6 Years Courses of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Paediatric Surgery and Plastic Surgery have 33, 24, 7, 6 seats respectively.
Emergency Medicine and Family medicine have 105 and 88 seats respectively. MBBS graduates who intend to go for Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Radio Therapy or Respiratory Medicine have 55, 49 and 48 seats to look out for in this counselling session.
ImmunoHematology and Blood Transfusion has 11 seats for Round 2. Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy, Microbiology, Nuclear Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Social and Preventive medicine / Community Medicine have less than 10 seats for Round 2.
Specialities including Biochemistry, Health Administration Including Hospital Administration, Rural Surgery have only 5 and 2 seats respectively.
Meanwhile, the maximum number of seats allocated for Round 2 is in Maharashtra with 436 seats followed by Delhi and Karnataka with 385 and 279 DNB Post MBBS seats.

Seat Matrix Breakup for DNB Post Diploma Counselling Round 2
920 are available for DNB Post Diploma candidates for Round 2 counselling session, as per the vacant indicative seat matrix released by the NBE. The maximum are in the speciality of Anaesthesiology with 221 seats.
Paediatrics is the second speciality with a maximum lot of 155 seats. This is followed by Obstetrics and Gynaecology with 139 and Orthopaedic Surgery with 97 seats.
DNB Post Diploma candidates have 75 seats in Radio Diagnosis and 67 seats in Ophthalmology to compete for in the second round.
Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Pathology, Radio Therapy and Respiratory Medicine have 67, 35, 47 and 33 seats respectively for Round 2 candidates who are vying for DNB Post Diploma admissions.
Diploma pass-outs who intend to go for Psychiatry have only 9 seats left.
The least number of seats are in the specialities of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy, Nuclear Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with 7, 3 and 8 seats respectively.
Moreover, the maximum DNB Post Diploma seats are in Maharashtra with 129 aggregate. Delhi and Tamil Nadu, both have 104 seats left for Round 2.
