Akums Gets DCGI Nod for Triple Therapy Combikit With Clarithromycin, Vonoprazan, Amoxicillin
New Delhi: Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals on Monday said it has developed a DCGI-approved triple therapy combikit for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) infection in adults.
H pylori infection is associated with chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer disease, and is considered a key risk factor for gastric cancer.
The formulation combines Clarithromycin (500 mg), Vonoprazan (20 mg), and Amoxicillin (1,000 mg) into a single organised treatment pack, the company said in a statement.
"Our focus has been on building capabilities across the pharmaceutical value chain that can support the development and manufacturing of increasingly specialised formulations," Akums Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Joint Managing Director Sandeep Jain said.
"While scientific development and therapeutic effectiveness remain central, the practical experience of patients undergoing treatment is also an important consideration," Sanjeev Jain, Joint Managing Director of the company, noted.
The contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) said the development reflects its push toward differentiated, patient-centric formulations across therapeutic areas.
