Biocon Employee Passes Away in Suspected Workplace Suicide

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old employee of Biocon Biologics Limited died after allegedly falling from the fifth floor of the company's office building in Electronics City Phase II on Hosur Road in Bengaluru.
As per various media accounts, the incident, which authorities are treating as a suspected suicide, occurred on Tuesday evening, and investigation into the circumstances is ongoing.
The deceased has been identified as S Anantha Kumar, a resident of Banashankari in south Bengaluru, who worked in the finance department at Biocon Biologics. According to police, the incident took place around 5:00 pm when Kumar was seen on his mobile phone near the company cafeteria terrace on the fifth floor before he allegedly jumped from the building.

No suicide note has been recovered from the scene, and the body was shifted to a private hospital for post‑mortem examination, officials said. The exact reason for the incident remains unknown, and investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing employees who were present at the time to understand what led up to the fall.
The Parappana Agrahara police in Bengaluru have registered a case and are probing the matter further, including speaking to Kumar’s family and colleagues as part of the ongoing inquiry. India Today reports that the authorities have not ruled out any possibilities at this stage.
In a statement, Biocon Biologics expressed deep sorrow over the employee’s death and extended condolences to the bereaved family. “We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our employees in Bengaluru. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the family during this extremely difficult time,” the company was quoted as saying by Business Today, adding that since the matter is under investigation, it is not in a position to share further details at this stage.
