Fake Bills Used to Inflate Sales: Ghaziabad Hospital Pharmacy Hit by Rs 6 Crore Scam
Ghaziabad: A major financial irregularity has come to light at Family Health Care Hospital in Vasundhara Sector-15, where the pharmacy operator and his son allegedly created fake medicine bills and manipulated accounts to embezzle nearly Rs 6 crore over several years.
According to the complaint filed by the hospital director, the fraud involved generating inflated sales figures and claiming commission on medicines that were never supplied to the pharmacy.
The hospital had appointed Narendra Dangi and his son Rishabh Dangi in 2020 to run the in-house pharmacy. Under the agreement, daily sales were to be recorded in the hospital’s software system, all revenue was to be deposited into the hospital’s bank account, and the operators were entitled to a 5% commission on genuine sales. For several years, the system functioned without suspicion.
The issue surfaced when, in October 2023, the accused submitted pharmacy bills claiming sales worth ₹25,80,44,540. They also declared that the annual business had reached ₹35 crore, based on which they received a commission of ₹1,95,77,982. However, during internal verification, the hospital found that many medicines shown in these bills were never actually supplied to the pharmacy, indicating that large portions of the entries were fabricated.
When the hospital confronted the operators, an associate identified as Sandeep Kumar allegedly called the complainant to Shiv Chowk in Shalimar Garden. There, he reportedly threatened to kill the hospital director and his family if they did not withdraw the allegations, and demanded a ransom of ₹17 lakh to “settle the matter”.
After the matter was taken to court, police registered an FIR late on 3 December 2025 and began an investigation. Officials stated that they are now reviewing all pharmacy bills, software entries and financial records, and further action will follow based on verified evidence, reports Amar Ujala.
The police are treating the matter as a serious financial crime and the investigation is ongoing.
