Gland Pharma Names Dr Reddy's Executive Deepak Sapra as New CEO
Hyderabad: Gland Pharma Limited has approved the appointment of Deepak Sapra as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with the appointment taking effect from November 16, 2026, subject to his acceptance of the offer made by the company.
The decision was taken by the Board based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Gland Pharma disclosed the appointment on August 14, 2026, in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The company stated that the required details concerning the appointment have been provided in the accompanying disclosure in accordance with the applicable SEBI requirements.
Deepak Sapra is described as a seasoned business leader with 27 years of executive experience, including more than 23 years in the pharmaceutical industry. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer – API and Services at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited and is also a Board Member of Aurigene Pharma Services.
In his current role, Sapra is responsible for global portfolio strategy and leads an integrated B2B business covering generic pharmaceuticals, contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) services, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), collaborations and alliances, public health and global patient access. His responsibilities span key international markets including the United States, European Union, Japan, Brazil, China, Mexico, the Middle East and emerging markets, including Africa.
His professional track record includes driving revenue growth, market expansion and market entry, business development, licensing, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and portfolio creation across India, the United States, Europe, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, China, Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
His experience covers the end-to-end pharmaceutical value chain, including CDMO partnerships, generics, APIs, sales and marketing, international business management, business development, supply chain management, research and development, operations, portfolio strategy, public health and access-led partnerships.
Before his current position, Sapra served as Chief Executive Officer – Custom Pharmaceutical Services, where he led a global CDMO business serving innovator pharmaceutical companies across the United States, Europe and Japan.
Earlier, during 2011–2015, he held senior leadership positions as Vice President – Global Generics Business Development and Senior Director – Global Generics Portfolio Management.
Sapra holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur, and a Master's degree in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
He was also a recipient of the Chevening Scholarship at the University of Bradford, UK, and a Fulbright Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA.
The company has specified November 16, 2026 as the date of change for the appointment. The appointment remains subject to Sapra's acceptance of the offer made by Gland Pharma.
The appointment brings an executive with extensive experience across generics, APIs, CDMO services, international markets, business development, licensing, M&A, supply chain, R&D and pharmaceutical portfolio strategy to the CEO position at Gland Pharma. Deepak Sapra is scheduled to assume the role from November 16, 2026, subject to acceptance of the company's offer.
