Gujarat HC Halts DGGI Action on Rs 56.33 Cr GST Demand Against Zydus Unit

New Delhi: Zydus Wellness Products Limited (ZWPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Zydus Wellness Limited, has received ad-interim relief from the Gujarat High Court in a GST matter involving a demand of Rs 56.33 crore raised by the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI), Surat Zonal Unit.
Earlier disclosures dated October 29, 2025, February 27, 2025, and December 25, 2024, had informed that ZWPL received an intimation, show cause notice, and Order-in-Original (OIO) under Section 74(5) of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, alleging a GST demand of Rs 56.33 crore along with applicable interest and penalty.
Challenging the OIO dated September 30, 2025, ZWPL filed a writ petition before the Gujarat High Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India.
The matter was listed for hearing on January 9, 2026 and the Court has granted ad-interim relief to ZWPL, restraining further proceedings in relation to the said OIO.
The period covered by the OIO relates to pre-acquisition period prior to January 30, 2019, and hence liability stands fully indemnified by Heinz Italia S.P.A.
