PCI Orders States to Update, Verify Pharmacist Database for HPR Integration by November 30
New Delhi: In a move to streamline the registration and verification of pharmacists across India, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has directed all State Pharmacy Councils (SPCs) and Registration Tribunals to submit consolidated and verified data of registered pharmacists by November 30, 2025.
Citing compliance with Section 15(A) of the Pharmacy Act, 1948, the Council emphasized that this data submission is crucial for the ongoing integration of pharmacists with the Health Professional Registry (HPR) being developed in collaboration with the National Health Authority (NHA).
“The Council has received directions from the National Health Authority (NHA). Accordingly, the Council is working with the NHA to integrate the pharmacists with the HPR (Health Professional Registry) and also to maintain and update the data under Section 15(A) of the Pharmacy Act, 1948,” the circular stated.
The latest communication, issued via File No. 15-4/2020-PCI(Main file)/POLICY-13014/2/2025-POLICY dated November 6, 2025, follows an earlier circular dated July 15, 2025, which first requested the state-wise submission of verified pharmacist data. However, several state councils reportedly failed to submit the required data within the stipulated time, causing delays in implementation.
Emphasizing the importance of accuracy and consistency, the PCI has advised all State Pharmacy Councils to thoroughly verify and update their registration data, ensuring that every record includes valid registration dates, accurate contact details, and complete personal particulars.
“All State Pharmacy Councils (SPCs) are advised to thoroughly verify and update their pharmacist registration data to ensure that every record contains valid registration details (with correct and active ‘Validity Up To’ dates), accurate and complete contact information (email ID and mobile number), correct personal particulars (name and DOB), and no invalid or placeholder entries,” the notice directed.
The Council has instructed that data be submitted strictly in the prescribed Excel format (Annexure 1) to maintain a clean, consistent, and reliable national database of registered pharmacists.

State Pharmacist Number must be in complete format as per the standard certificate (e.g., Reg/2456/1234 should be written instead of 1234 or 2456/1234; G-12345 instead of 12345). Therefore, all state councils/registration tribunals must follow a uniform structure for registration numbers.
All data fields are mandatory for each registered pharmacist and must be submitted to the PCI in Excel format by November 30, 2025.
