Jaipur: To ensure the quality of medicines supplied under the Chief Minister's Free Medicine Scheme, surprise inspection of pharma firms in Baddi was conducted by a team from Rajasthan Medical Services Corporation Limited (RMSCL).
According to a recent media report in the Times of India, the inspection was prompted by recent media reports highlighting concerns over counterfeit drug production and irregularities in Baddi-based pharmaceutical firms.
During the visit, the 4-member RMSCL team examined manufacturing processes, storage conditions, supply chain management, and compliance with regulatory standards. They also reviewed licenses, equipment, and testing facilities to verify adherence to quality norms.

"This unprecedented step ensures strict quality standards for medicines distributed under the scheme. All manufacturing and supply must comply with tender specifications," An RMSCL official stated.
She highlighted that RMSCL exclusively procures medicines from WHO-GMP certified facilities. "Ensuring public access to quality medicines is our top priority," she added.
"The inspection revealed that these manufacturing units met the required standards and operated with proper licences from the Drug Control Department. Several units were found to be operating at international standards, producing and exporting substantial quantities of medicines," the official told TOI.
