Vitamin D3 Tablets, Heparin Sodium Injection Fail Quality Test, 2 Drugmakers Blacklisted by CGMSC
Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Limited (CGMSC) has banned three medicines for three years after they were declared "Not of Standard Quality (NSQ)" and simultaneously blacklisted two pharmaceutical firms that supplied them.
According to the CGMSC, the banned medicines include Calcium (Elemental) with Vitamin D3 Tablets and Ornidazole Tablets supplied by M/s AG Parenterals, Baddi (Himachal Pradesh), and Heparin Sodium 1000 IU/ml Injection IP supplied by M/s Divine Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., Vadodara (Gujarat). The Heparin injection also failed further testing at the Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL), Kolkata. Both firms have been blacklisted for three years and barred from participating in any upcoming government tenders.
As per a recent media report in the Navbharat Times, the decision came after routine testing conducted at NABL-accredited laboratories revealed that these medicines did not meet the required pharmacological standards. Acting on the report, the CGMSC instructed all government hospitals and supply depots to immediately stop the use and distribution of the affected drugs and remove them from stock.
The CGMSC clarified that it follows a strict procurement policy, under which every batch of medicines is sent to certified laboratories for testing before approval. However, when products fail to meet these standards, immediate punitive action is taken to safeguard patient health.
Dainik Bhaskar reports that the two companies involved in supplying these medicines have been debarred from all future government tenders. Officials stated that the move aims to strengthen accountability in the state’s public health supply chain and prevent recurrence of substandard drug distribution.
Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal welcomed the decision and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring patient safety, emphasizing that “any compromise in medicine quality will not be tolerated.” The CGMSC also stated that its quality control measures are in line with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and coordinated with national regulatory bodies such as the CDSCO.
