IP University Starting D Pharma course with 60 seats from this Academic year, Know Eligibility Criteria, Admission Details
New Delhi- Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIU) has launched a new programme D Pharma Course, approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) for the academic session 2024-25. In this regard, the university has released an information brochure giving details of the D. Pharma course, duration and eligibility, etc for admission to this programme.
Diploma in Pharmacy course is a PCI-approved short-term program of two years duration and is annual based. The programme aims to provide an in-depth understanding of various subjects like Pharmacognosy, Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology etc. This is a short-term course which fulfils the minimum eligibility to become a registered pharmacist.
The course duration is designed to provide students with basic knowledge and skills in pharmacology, drug formulation, delivery and related areas. This is a relatively shorter program compared to the full bachelor's degree program in pharmacy (B.Pharm.) which is usually of four years duration.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
Admission will be given on the basis of merit and the merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks secured in 10+2.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
1 To pursue a D Pharm. course one must have passed the 10+2 examination or equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the Science stream PCI3 or PCM (Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Mathematics).
2 · The minimum age to pursue the D Pharmacy eligibility is a minimum of 17 years as on date 31.12.2024 and the candidates must possess valid certificates of passing an examination and relevant qualifying examination to get enrolled in D. Pharmacy.
3 Admission in D. Pharmacy would be on merit basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying
Examination.
SEAT ALLOCATION
As per the information brochure, the total sanctioned seats for D Pharma course are 60.
1 85% of the total sanctioned intake for Delhi Region- The candidates will be considered Delhi Region Candidates if they have passed the qualifying examination from any school located in the NCT of Delhi. All such candidates will be treated as Delhi Region Candidates for counselling for admission.
2 15% of the total sanctioned intake for Outside Delhi Region- The candidates will be considered as Outside Delhi Region Candidates if they have passed the qualifying examination from any school/institute located Outside Delhi. All such candidates will be treated as Outside Delhi Region Candidates for counselling for admission.
METHODS OF SELECTION AND ADMISSION
1 Based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination, the University will prepare a list of candidates in order of merit. The merit list will be displayed on the University website.
2 Admission to seats of different categories will be made based on the result of the qualifying examination (12th).
3 The inter-se merit of candidates securing equal aggregate marks at the qualifying examination will be determined according to the following criteria-
i The candidate getting higher marks in PCM or PCB will rank higher.
ii In case of a tie above, the candidate older in age will rank higher.
4 The date of counselling and admission, depending upon the rank of the candidate will be displayed on the University website.
