PG pulmonology Medico of Guntur Medical College allegedly commits suicide
Vijayawada: A post-graduation medical (PG Medical) student attached to Katuri Medical College in Guntur allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence using her scarf.
According to a recent media report in Times of India, the 26-year-old medico was pursuing her post-graduation in pulmonology and was in a love relationship with her classmate.
Though the reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, police are suspecting that her recent love failure could be the driving force behind the alleged suicide.
The unfortunate incident took place on Friday at Meera Saheb Street where the medico had been staying at her residence in Bhavanipuram. Around 3 am, the medico was found hanging inside her room with the help of her scarf by her family members.
Soon the cops were informed and the body was sent for post-mortem. Elaborating on the case, police have told TOI that the deceased was associated in a love relationship with a classmate.
After getting to know about the love relationship, the family allegedly started looking for a match for the girl. As per the police, the love relationship failure could be the reason for the drastic step.
A case under Section 174 of CrPC (suspicious death) has been registered and the matter is being probed.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported a similar incident in Agartala, where a fourth-year MBBS student of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside his room at the boy's hostel.
Although the incident was thought to be a suicide at first, the father of the deceased later claimed that his son was murdered and demanded immediate action against the perpetrators.
