Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College PG medico found hanging in hostel room
Barpeta: In an unfortunate incident, a resident doctor undergoing a post-graduate medical course at the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his hostel room in Assam's Barpeta district.
The deceased hailed from Gujarat and was in the third semester of his postgraduate course when he decided to take this extreme step. However, the reason behind the incident is unknown as no suicide note was found at the scene.

The incident came to light when the deceased student did not show up for breakfast in the morning following which the cook became worried. Noticing the student's absence from the dining hall, the cook went to his room to wake him. However, he found the door locked from the inside and received no response despite repeated knocking and calling.
“As he did not get any response, the cook informed the other students. The door was broken then and they found his body hanging,” an official told PTI.
After discovering the tragic incident, the college authorities informed the police who rushed to the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation. Later, the police sent the student's body for postmortem examination.
To determine the reason for the suicide, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the case. “The reason for the suicide is still unknown. We are carrying out our investigation,” an official said.
Medical DIalogues earlier reported that a 24-year-old second-year medical student at Maharaja Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) in Nellimarla allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide before hanging himself from the ceiling in his hostel room as he was depressed due to academic pressure.
