Ganja found in GMC hostel must be dealt with strictly: BJP
Panaji: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had said that the issue of students caught with drugs at Goa Medical College (GMC) should be dealt with strictly.
In a tweet, Goa BJP Spokesperson Savio Rodrigues also accused the Congress party of trying to belittle the issue.

'Congress in Goa demanding the reinstatement of students caught with drugs at Goa Medical College after being rusticated appears to be an attempt to make small the crime of having drugs in a college campus. It is a serious matter and must be dealt with strictly,' Rodrigues said.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier published that five Goa Medical College and Hospital interns, including a female were allegedly rusticated following a police complaint that they were found with drugs.
The Security Guard of the boys' hostel submitted a report to GMC Dean S M Bandekar.
Subsequently, a complaint was filed by the hostel warden at Agassaim Police Station.
Following this, State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said he had asked the GMCH dean to issue a show cause notice to the hostel warden in the matter.
"5 interns who were found with possession of drugs at GMC hostel campus will be rusticated, directions have been given to Dean of @GoaGmc in this matter. I have also instructed him to issue a show cause notice to the Warden and carry out a detailed investigation in this regard" Rane tweeted.
Later, police registered an FIR after 7 gm of ganja, suspected to be ganja, was found in the common bathroom of GMC boys' hostel.
Claiming that injustice was done, Goa Pradesh Youth Congress had demanded to revoke the rustication orders against the five interns till the investigation was completed.
The GPYC claimed that the rustication will affect the careers of the five interns and the punishment was unwarranted.
