What are the odds! Surat Twins Score Identical Marks in MBBS final Exams
Gujarat- In a rare turn of events, twin sisters from Surat, Gujarat have scored the same marks in their MBBS final exams. 24-year-old Riba and Rahin Hafezi completed their MBBS degree course from GMERS Medical College, Vadodara, with identical marks - 935 marks or 66.8%.
The twins have always been bright students, and their academic achievements have always been in sync with each other. In Class 10, Reeba was at the 99th percentile and Rahin at 98.5th. In Class 12, they were at 98.2 and 97.3 percentiles, respectively. Without attending coaching classes, they did remarkably well in NEET-UG, with Reeba scoring at the 97th percentile and Rahin at the 97.7th percentile. They were in the same hostel room and attended class together at GMERS.

After clearing the NEET-UG exam, the twins chose the same medical college in Gotri in 2019 instead of getting admission to separate government medical colleges. The sisters attribute their success to the strong support of their mother and maternal grandparents. The twins were raised by Gulshad Bano, a single mother and teacher.
Speaking to TOI, Rahin says, "We are the first doctors in the family. In our extended family, my maternal uncle is a doctor who inspired us to take up medicine. Growing up, we always used to score similar marks as we always used to prepare for our exams together."
Further, reaffirming their commitment towards serving people, Riba says, “The journey so far has been miraculous for us, and we are determined to help others just as others have helped us to fulfil our dreams”.
These twin sisters are among the few women from the Sindhi Jamati community to have graduated in medicine. They acknowledge the support of their community and credit their mother, who taught them to dream big and be helpful to humanity.
