AIIMS Rewari set to admit first MBBS batch to 50 approved seats this year: Haryana Health Minister
Rewari: To promote medical education in Haryana, a total of 50 MBBS seats approved for the current academic session at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rewari are confirmed to begin admissions.
This was informed by Haryana’s Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao on Monday while responding to a question raised by a member during Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly.
According to the IANS report, she stated that there are two major institutions linked to the central government's AIIMS in Haryana, i.e., the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at Badhsa in Jhajjar and AIIMS in Rewari. The second campus of NCI AIIMS New Delhi is located at Badhsa, Jhajjar. It is a dedicated tertiary-care institute for cancer treatment and serves as a major hub for cancer treatment, prevention, early detection, research, and human resource development.
An AIIMS is being established in Rewari under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) as the country's 22nd AIIMS. It will comprise a medical college and hold the status of an Institute of National Importance.
Therefore, the Government of India has approved the admission of 50 MBBS students to the institute for the 2026-27 academic year.
Earlier this year, Medical Dialogues had reported that AIIMS in Majra, Rewari, Haryana, has got the central government's approval for 50 MBBS seats for the 2026-27 academic session. Gurugram MP and Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh informed that the process has already been commenced.
In this regard, an Under Secretary at the Union Ministry of Health issued a letter on March 23. Citing the letter, Singh stated that this approval grants permission to commence an MBBS course at AIIMS Rewari, with an initial intake of 50 students annually, starting from the 2026-27 academic session.
