Crackdown Intensifies in Rohtak MBBS Exam Scam: 12 more Employees, 20 MBBS Students under scanner
Haryana- The police officials are preparing to take further major action in the MBBS exam scam that surfaced at Pandit BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak (UHSR)
So far, 41 individuals- including 24 MBBS students from a private medical college and 17 employees of the university— have been booked in the case, which came to light in February. However, only three employees have been arrested so far, and no concrete action has yet been taken against the students, drawing criticism over the slow pace of the investigation.
Sources informed the Tribune that the police are now preparing to bring 12 more employees under the ambit of investigation, whose names are already registered in the FIR. Apart from this, preparations are also being made to bring four more people under the ambit of investigation, whose names have come up during the investigation. Permission to question these people has been taken from the university. Twenty MBBS students named in the FIR also remain under scrutiny, and further arrests are likely in the coming days.
According to Tribune, the United Doctors Front, an organisation of medical professionals, has appealed to Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini to take decisive action. On this, Dr Amit Vyas, president of the organisation, said, "This scam has not only tarnished the reputation of medical education but has also put the future of thousands of honest and hardworking students at risk."
Dr Amit Vyas has also sent a letter to the Chief Minister, through which he has demanded an independent, high-level investigation, immediate expulsion of the accused students and strict administrative and legal action against the university employees involved in this. He has also stressed the need for radical changes in the university's examination system, so that it can be made more transparent, secure and free from fraud.
Along with this, National Spokesperson of All India Adarsh ​​Jat Mahasabha Deepak Rathi also demanded the officials to take action without delay. Rathi said, "This is the biggest scam in Haryana till date. There is a strong possibility of high-level officials being involved in this. Police should investigate the case from this angle as well."
