Palwal soon to get its first Govt Medical College
Haryana- In a proposal to set up a government medical college in Palwal, Haryana, 46 acres of land have been earmarked in Pelak village, a source of the health department recently stated.
In 2022, Haryana's Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced plans to set up a government medical college in each district of Haryana. A list of the districts where the Government Medical College is to be established was also released and Palwal's name was also included in that list.
Even before the CM's announcement, local and ruling party MLAs from Palwal and Hathin assembly constituencies, on various occasions including in the state assembly last year, had also raised the demand for setting up a government medical college in the Haryana district.
For this proposal, a suitable land was being searched for the last two years and initially, a 46-acre of land has been found in Pelak. The Local authorities have conducted a survey of the land, and the survey report has also been submitted to the district authorities for official approval.
Besides this, the officials and representatives from the Directorate of Medical Research and Education (DMRE), Health Department, and District Rural Development and Panchayat Office (DDPO) of the state government also conducted an identification process.
This 46 acres of land belongs to the Panchayat of Pelak village. The advantage of this land is that it is close to the upcoming interchange of the KGP Expressway on Aligarh Road in the district.
Speaking to the Tribune, CMO Dr Naresh Kumar Garg said “While the report about the land availability had been submitted to the government, the DMRE was authorised to take up the project after formal approval. Palwal was upgraded as a district in 2008 and the demand for a medical college had been pending for a long time, it is claimed”.
