Open heart surgery facility now at Tanda Medical College Hospital
Dharamshala: Open heart surgery has been started in the second-largest government medical college of Himachal Pradesh at Tanda following the initiatives of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.
Shahpur assembly constituency MLA Kewal Singh Pathania said open heart surgery was being done in IGMC, Shimla for a long time, but despite all the arrangements in place in Tanda Medical College Hospital, it had not been started.

He said considering the geographical conditions of the state, the Chief Minister got it started in Tanda also for the service and convenience of the people here. He informed that machinery worth Rs 8 crore has been installed by the government for the open heart surgery.
He said that on Monday, due to the best efforts of the team of doctors of the state, open heart surgery was successfully carried out at Tanda Medical College.
He said the facility will benefit the people of seven districts - Kangra, Chamba, Hamirpur, Una, Mandi, Kullu and Bilaspur. He said the facility of robotic surgery will also be started in every medical college of the state in a phased manner.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the Himachal Pradesh government named the newly constructed 200-bedded Mother and Child Hospital in Dr R.P. Government Medical College at Tanda in Kangra district. Dr Bhanu Awasthi, Principal Dr RPGM College Tanda, said this at a press conference in his office. Dr Bhanu further said that this hospital was completed at the cost of Rs 40 Crores. He said that the Mother and Child Hospital has been completed and the different medical equipment has reached the hospital and are gradually being installed in the hospital.
He disclosed that this mother and child hospital has been named after the former Transport and Technical Education Minister, Late Shri G.S. Bali. He said that the state government has issued a notification in this regard.
