3 Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences Nursing students drown during picnic
Karnataka- In an unfortunate incident, three nursing students of Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) drowned in the backwaters of the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam at Meenakshipura in Karnataka's Mandya district while on a picnic recently.
After the incident took place, the police were immediately informed, and an investigation was launched. Upon probe, the police identified the deceased as Prashanth, 22, Krishna, 21, and Siddesh, 22.
According to the police, the incident occured around 1.30 pm on Sunday. The three nursing students went to the location for a picnic. They decided to enter the water without knowing its depth. Following rain in Kodagu and the Cauvery basin, the water level suddenly started rising.
Due to the strong current, the students drowned, and they did not know how to swim.
Meanwhile, according to officials of the Yelawala police station in Mysore, their bodies were later recovered with the help of fire and emergency service personnel and local expert swimmers after the police were informed. A case has been registered at the Yelawala police station, report the Indian Express.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that In a tragic incident, a first-year MBBS student of the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his hostel room. The cause of his death remains unknown and is currently under investigation by the police. No suicide note was found at the scene. It has been reported that the student had missed his first-year exams last year but was planning to appear for them this year. The student was staying in the hostel with two other students. Both of whom weren't in the room on Sunday, as they went to their natives. The incident came to light when one of the roommates arrived on Monday morning
