Karnataka- In a tragic road accident, a young Indian MBBS medico lost her life after being hit by a speeding car in Tver, Russia. The authorities have taken the accused into custody.
According to a News24 media report, the victim has been identified as Shreya, a native of Karnataka. She was a first-year MBBS student at Tver State Medical College. She had joined the medical college last year and was living in a hostel on Furmanova Street.
The incident happened when she had gone out alone to buy groceries. The victim was trying to cross the road when the speeding Skoda car of the 33-year-old man hit her. She did not use the zebra crossing and tried to cross the road.
After the incident, the people nearby called the ambulance, the ambulance reached the spot in 5-6 minutes, but the medico was declared dead on the spot. Currently, Shreya's body has been sent for post-mortem, reports News24.
After being informed about the incident, the in-charge of the International Students Club expressed grief over the incident. The in-charge urged the students to follow road safety guidelines and cross the road only where permitted.
Medical Dialogues recently reported a case in which two doctors, including the medical superintendent of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH), died, and three others were injured when their car collided with a Nilgai on Jind Road. The five doctors were on their way to attend a wedding in Hisar when their car, driven by a hired driver, crashed near the Bandrala bus stop.
