Kanachur medical college Mangaluru 7 students booked, issued notices over ragging

Mangaluru: Seven students have been booked and issued notices after a first-year student of Kanachur Medical College in Mangaluru accused them of repeatedly ragging him and his classmates, confining them in a hotel room and threatening them with violence.
Based on the student's complaint, Ullal police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The student alleged that the seniors subjected him and his classmates to physical and mental harassment and threatened them with serious consequences if they disclosed the incidents.
The complainant, a 21-year-old student from Kollam in Kerala, is pursuing BSc Neuroscience Technology at the college in Deralakatte. In his complaint, the student described three incidents that allegedly took place on October 2, October 15 and October 22.

According to latest media report by The News Minute, the first incident occurred on October 2, when the student went outside the college campus without wearing his uniform. At that time, two senior students allegedly confronted him near a restaurant opposite the college. One of them threatened to break his limbs and said he would complain to the college authorities.
The second incident took place on October 15, when one of the accused allegedly called the student repeatedly and asked him and six classmates to meet near the Clock Tower. The group was then taken to a room at a nearby hotel and allegedly prevented from leaving until they sang songs.
During this, the accused was allegedly recording the students singing on his mobile phone and circulated the video among other students, according to the complaint.
The alleged third incident took place on October 22, involving a junior student when two allegedly took him on a motorcycle to a senior's room, where he was confined and forced to perform humiliating acts, including measuring the room while holding a matchbox and imitating a hen laying eggs.
The accused allegedly threatened to target one student each day and warned that anyone who revealed the incidents would have their limbs broken and be sent to a graveyard, as per The Hans India report.
