According to a latest report by Deccan Herald, she was doing her internship as part of her bachelor’s degree and was just a couple of weeks away from completing it and leaving the campus. Her parents are currently residing in a European country.
The incident took place on June 2 at around 11 am when she was alone in the hostel as most of her classmates had already left the campus. When her classmates became worried about her, they tried calling her repeatedly, but to no avail.
After getting no response, they informed the college authorities, and the incident came to light when they opened the door of the room. Her lifeless body was hanging from the ceiling.
Soon, they alerted the police, and the deceased student's body was sent to the district general hospital for a post-mortem, which confirmed suicide as the cause of the death.
The police have informed her family members, who are expected to reach Shivamogga today. A case has been registered in this regard, and an investigation is underway.
Medical Dialogues previously reported that a second-year postgraduate radiology student of Government Medical College (GMC), Surat, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan using a bedsheet in his hostel room. The deceased medico was a meritorious student who had secured admission to a postgraduate program at GMC Surat and was serving as a doctor at the state-run New Civil Hospital (NCH).
