26-year-old resident doctor dies after falling from 13th floor, suicide suspected
Kochi: A young doctor died after falling from the 13th floor of an apartment complex at Chittoor in Kerala on Saturday around 3 PM, in a suspected case of suicide.
The deceased doctor has been identified as a 26-year-old native of Pathanamthitta. As per sources, she was a resident doctor pursuing internal medical training in MRCP with a private hospital in the city, as per the Times of India. She was a PG-Registrar at ASTER MedCity. She completed her MBBS from Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur.
A case for unnatural death was registered by the Cheranellore police who are presently investigating the case, reports the Hindu. The police said, "We have collected CCTV footage from the apartment complex. It seems like she was alone when the incident happened. Our initial assessment is that she jumped to death even as the cause of death can be confirmed only by an autopsy." The police have also collected CCTV footage from the apartment complex.
In a similar incident of suicide, the Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about an incident in the Ganeshpeth area of Nagpur, where a doctor allegedly died by suicide after injecting an anesthetic drug. He used to work at the Kimaya Hospital for the last two years. The doctor was reported to have injected himself with an Atracurium Besilate Injection, which is a medication indicated for an adjunct to general anesthesia during surgery in order to relax skeletal muscles and to facilitate endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation to make way for breathing.
The Kerala state health helpline numbers are 104, Maithri - 0484-2540530, Thanal - 0495-2760000, and DISHA – 1056 which can be accessed in order to seek help for mental health-related issues.
