Doctor Dies of Burn Injuries
Kottayam: One of the critically injured MBBS students in the tragic Kalarcode road accident succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
Alvin George, an 18-year-old from Edathua, passed away, bringing the total number of fatalities in the incident involving MBBS students to six. Alvin, a native of Edathua, was initially treated at the Government TD Medical College Hospital but was later transferred to a private hospital in Kochi when his condition worsened.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in an unfortunate incident, five MBBS students were killed after the car they were travelling in collided with a KSRTC bus recently. Seven persons were inside the car, and of these, five succumbed to the injuries, police added.
The accident took place near Kalarcode, when the vehicle, carrying a group of young students, collided with the bus late at night. The youth, who is under treatment for his injuries has provided a statement to the police regarding the incident. He stated that the crash occurred while he was attempting to overtake another vehicle. According to him, the MUV failed to gain sufficient speed during the overtaking attempt. When he spotted an oncoming KSRTC bus and attempted to brake, the vehicle lost control and skidded to the opposite side of the road, resulting in the collision.
Five students died on the spot, while several others were left injured. Three other students Anand Manu, Muhsin, and Krishnadev are still undergoing treatment at the MCH in Vandanam, with their conditions being monitored closely.
As per the recent report by TOI, Alappuzha South Police have submitted a report in court accusing Tripunithura native. A case was registered against the 19-year-old based on eyewitnesses's statements and CCTV visuals. The new finding is that the lapse on the part of the youth led to the accident.
