Bhopal Shocker: NEET Aspirant who returned from Kota, Kills Mother, Injures Father After Being Scolded For Mobile Use

Bhopal: In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old NEET aspirant allegedly murdered his mother and critically injured his father out of rage after he was scolded for using his mobile phone for long hours. The aspirant reportedly attacked his mother with an iron rod, fatally bludgeoning her and attacked his father with the same weapon, which resulted in severe injuries. He is currently in jail after being arrested in this regard.
The incident took place on March 3 when the NEET aspirant, who returned home after dropping out from a Kota institute last August, was scolded by his parents for using his mobile phone non-stop. This led to an argument and the aspirant in rage attacked them.

While his mother died during treatment, his father is battling in critical condition in the ICU even after 72 hours since the incident. As per TOI news report, after allegedly killing his mother and injuring his father, the aspirant called his relatives and police, confessing his crime.
Later, the police reached his house and discovered his parents lying in a pool of blood. However, they were conscious and the police immediately rushed them to the nearby hospital. Shortly after, they arrested the aspirant under relevant sections of BNS for murder and attempted murder. The aspirant is currently in jail after he was produced before a local court.
According to one of his family members, the aspirant who is preparing for NEET, has always been a well-behaved and studious boy. He also topped in both class 10 and 12 boards. However, his uncle claimed that he changed after returning from Kota. It is reported that he dropped out of the Kota Coaching Institute after only staying there for three months.
A senior police officer involved in the probe told HT that the student told investigators he attacked his parents because he was unable to cope with the pressure of clearing NEET. Moreover, he also told investigators that his parents used to repeatedly scold him for not preparing for NEET as they wanted him to become a doctor.
Further, he told the police that he was addicted to the smartphone for five to six hours at a stretch, but it was not social media that was behind the addiction. The police are now investigating what made the student addicted to his phone. His smartphone is now in the possession of the forensic team to determine the exact cause for addiction.
Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Dawar told ETV Bharat, "*** was preparing for NEET and attended coaching classes in Kota from May to August. His parents advised him to avoid his mobile phone and focus on his study but he was addicted to his phone. On Monday night, they had an argument over excessive use of mobile and *** attacked his parents. The accused was arrested and presented in the court, from where he was sent to jail."
