MP man arrested for allegedly forging CM's letter for AYUSH doctor transfer

Alirajpur: Alirajpur police have arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly preparing a forged letter in the name of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to facilitate the transfer of an Ayush medical officer from the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Udaygarh to the facility in Sondwa.

Superintendent of Police Raghuvansh Kumar Singh said Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Rajesh Atulkar lodged a complaint after receiving a forged letter from an unidentified person on WhatsApp on July 21, reports PTI.

According to the police, the letter was addressed to the CMHO's office and was allegedly prepared in the chief minister's name using a fake letterhead and photograph of Yadav.

It referred to an application seeking the transfer of an Ayush medical officer from the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Udaygarh to the one in Sondwa, Singh said.

Police arrested a resident of Sehore district in connection with the alleged fraud and seized a mobile phone and tablet from his possession, the officer said.

Police inspector Sonu Sitole said the investigation showed that the Ayush medical officer's driver had reportedly paid Rs 15,000 through UPI.

The role of the Ayush medical officer and her driver was under investigation, and further action would be taken based on the findings, she added.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a recent fraud incident, a final-year MBBS student at a private medical college and hospital in Rourkela reportedly lost Rs 1.38 lakh after scanning a QR code while placing an order on a shopping platform. As per the police, she scanned the QR code after receiving a call from a person posing as a representative of the online shopping platform, who falsely claimed that her payment had not been received.
