Jabalpur: In a tragic incident, a first-year MBBS student of the government-run Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College & Hospital, allegedly committed suicide in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
Speaking to PTI, the medical college and hospital superintendent Dr Arvind Sharma informed, "Shivansh Gupta (20) allegedly jumped off the third floor of the boys’ hostel number 4 of the government-run Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College & Hospital."

His batchmates have told the police that Shivansh was in acute depression for around a fortnight, but didn’t share the actual problem with anyone.
“He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition due to multiple injuries to the head and neck. His batchmates have cited Whatsapp messages to claim Shivansh was depressed. A student had even tried to stop him but Shivansh jumped off by then. He hailed from Rewa district,” Sharma informed.
According to The New Indian Express, he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), where he died at around 2.30 pm. Initial police investigations have led the police to Shivam’s mobile phone. The cops are analysing messages sent by him to friends before resorting to the extreme step.
The MBBS student hailed from Rewa district of MP and his father is employed in Gurugram.
A case has been registered and further probe is underway, Garha police station sub inspector Yogendra Singh told the reporters.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a second-year MBBS student was found dead inside his hostel room at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. Khan, who was pursuing his second year of MBBS, was rushed through necessary legal formalities, including a post-mortem, before his body was handed over to his family. While the exact reason behind his extreme step remains unclear, police have initiated inquest proceedings to probe the circumstances surrounding his death.
