Over 10000 MP Govt doctors threaten to go on strike from May 1 over pending demands

Indore: About 10,000 doctors of 13 medical colleges of the state have once again prepared to go on strike from May if their demands, including the implementation of Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) Scheme, are not fulfilled.

The other demands included curbing administrative interference, restoration of old pensions, 7th Pay Commission and so on. Doctors representatives of different organizations on Sunday gave the authorities an ultimatum.

Almost 110 representatives of the Medical Teachers' Association of all 52 district hospitals and medical colleges gathered at the auditorium of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College (MGM) Indore while 70 others participated online to discuss the action plan to raise their demands.

The Medical Teachers' Association (MTA) stated in a press release that due to the inaction of the government officials and delay in issuing orders for the report of the high-level committee formed by the Honorable Chief Minister, the federation was forced to choose the path of resuming medical strike movement on February 17, 2023.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the doctors had threatened to go on strike and they began a statewide mobilisation rally under the banner of the MP government and autonomous doctor's federation from January 27th to April 7, 2023.

The high-level committee formed on February 17, 2023 had to submit its report to the Chief Minister within one month, after that the agitation was postponed. But after 2 months and despite the decision of the high-level committee, DACP and other pending departmental orders have not yet been issued, so the federation is giving additional time of 2 weeks to the government after two months to implement the report.

Along with this, promise commemoration day will be celebrated every day from tomorrow, April 17, and then the administration will be counting the date of the movement to stop the medical work.

From May 1, the government doctors will start boycotting OPD work. From 3rd May, doctors will enter a continuous movement to stop all medical work and picketing will be held outside the workplace by putting up tents and mikes. Along with this, the district/division/MTA level officials have been entrusted with ground-level responsibilities to make the movement successful.

" A memorandum will be given to the local public representatives (in-charge minister/MLA) and administrative officials through the local office bearers regarding the upcoming medical work shutdown movement. Since this is a fight for the future of all doctors, future doctors and medical students will also be associated with this movement. Along with this, this fight is to improve the medical system, so the nursing officers/staff of all government hospitals will also be associated with this movement," added the press release signed by Dr Sunil Agarwal, President of Progressive MTA MP.
