Stipend hike approved for MP junior doctors
Madhya Pradesh: The Madhya Pradesh government has increased the stipend of junior doctors working in the state's medical colleges.
Acting in accordance with the directives of Health Minister Rajendra Shukla, the Department of Medical Education has issued an order to increase the stipend of junior doctors working in the state's medical colleges, effective from April 1, 2025.
This decision comes after the recent strike by junior doctors and will directly benefit the PG students, interns, and Senior and Junior Resident doctors studying in the state's government medical colleges.
According to the Bhaskar news report, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla stated that junior doctors constitute a vital link in the state's healthcare system. In medical colleges and their affiliated hospitals, they not only complete their medical training but also play a crucial role in providing continuous healthcare services to patients.
The Government of Madhya Pradesh is continuously striving to strengthen the quality of medical education and to make healthcare services more effective and people-oriented. The government is confident that junior doctors will contribute with complete dedication to further fortify healthcare services.
According to the revised order, the stipend for first-year PG doctors has been increased from 75,444 to 77,662.
The stipend for second-year PG has been increased from 77,764 to 80,050, and for third-year, it has been increased from 80,086 to 82,441.
Similarly, the stipend for intern doctors has been increased from 13,928 to 14,337. For first, second, and third-year doctors of the Super Speciality course, the stipend has been fixed at 82,441.
Additionally, the stipend for Senior Residents has been increased from 88,210 to 90,803, while the stipend for Junior Residents has been fixed at 63,324.

For a long time, there had been simmering discontent among junior doctors across the state regarding the revision of their stipends. Led by the Junior Doctors Association (JDA), resident doctors, senior residents, and interns launched a protest. On March 9, junior doctors went on strike starting at 9:00 AM, which continued until 5:00 PM.
