MLC Satish Chavan asks Maha Govt to defer MBBS, BDS exams considering COVID peak
Expressing COVID concern for the examinees, he averred, "It has been observed that many students do not test for Corona despite having symptoms, just to sit for the exam. Many students are at home today. But now these students have to go from one district to another for exams."
Aurangabad: Marathwada Graduate Constituency MLC Satish Chavan on Sunday demanded that all the medical exams across the state should be postponed owing to the COVID's rapid rise.
In a letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh, he wrote, "As per schedule the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) has conducted MBBS, BDS and other medical examinations from April 19 to June 30."

"But at present, the number of corona infected patients in the state is increasing. Therefore,the examination should be postponed," he demanded.
Expressing COVID concern for the examinees, he averred, "It has been observed that many students do not test for Corona despite having symptoms, just to sit for the exam. Many students are at home today. But now these students have to go from one district to another for exams."
"Also 3 to 4 students live in one room in the hostel, these students will have to use mess, washroom. Therefore, the possibility of corona infection in these students cannot be ruled out," he added.
He asserted, "It is important to take care of everyone's health in the current situation. This is also the role of our Mahavikas Aghadi government. Therefore, it would not be appropriate to endanger the health of students by taking exams."
