Mumbai: Disabled doctor dies after speeding trailer rams into his scooter
Maharashtra: In an unfortunate case of hit and run, a young doctor passed away after a speeding trailer hit his scooter at Govandi on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as a 38-year-old medical practitioner who was physically challenged. The doctor was a resident of the Prabhat colony in Santacruz East. He met the accident on Thursday morning while he was driving his scooter at Mankhurd link road at Govandi.
The Times of India reports that at around 8 a.m. on Thursday, the deceased doctor who was also physically challenged was driving a scooter when suddenly the speeding trailer rammed into his vehicle. After the crash, the doctor was thrown away several feet and received serious injuries. After noticing the accident, the local people immediately rushed him to the nearby Sion Hospital.
However, his situation declined after which he was transferred to Saifee hospital. But there was no improvement in his condition and on Thursday afternoon he eventually passed away after receiving multiple injuries.
The Deonar police informed that they have detained the owner of the trailer but the driver of the trailer is still absconding. They stated that they are still investigating the case and trying to nab the offender.
This is the second case within 30 days where a doctor passed away in a road accident in Mumbai. Previously the Medical Dialogues team reported that last month in a similar incident a 55-year-old doctor died after he was run over by a speeding vehicle in Bhiwandi town of Maharashtra's Thane district. The incident occurred when An unidentified vehicle rammed into the two-wheeler and ran over the victim at Valpada when the medical practitioner was traveling to his clinic on his two-wheeler.
