Mumbai: Medical aspirant dies in road accident after speeding truck collides with scooter
Mumbai: In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old medical aspirant allegedly died in a road accident after a speeding truck hit his scooter in Bandra (East). The accused driver has been arrested in connection.
The deceased has been identified as a medical aspirant who had recently appeared for the NEET examination. She was on her way to a relative's home in Kurla when the truck collided with her scooter and ran over her body leading to her untimely demise.
After casting her first vote in the Lok Sabha elections, she and her cousin headed towards their relatives' house merely 10 minutes after she cast her vote with her parents at Gausiya Company in Nirmal Nagar locality, Bandra (East).

As per TOI news report, the incident occurred on May 20 at 5.10 pm at Diamond Junction in BKC. While Falak died on the spot, her cousin managed to escape death by sustaining injuries.
However, the truck driver was arrested under the Indian Penal Code for reckless driving, causing death due to negligence, and endangering lives and the Motor Vehicle Act for dangerous driving after locals who witnessed the accident caught him, manhandled him, and then handed him over to the police.
After the police reached the spot, they immediately rushed the victims to Sion hospital and only one of them survived.
The victim's father told the daily, "We all first visited the place where we stayed earlier to see the redevelopment work before we went to the poll booth. I found out about my daughter's accident when my brother called me to say that both his daughter and mine were taken to Sion Hospital after being hit by a truck. My daughter had recently appeared for a medical entrance exam."
Further, an investigation in this regard is underway.
