Pune man duped of Rs 70 lakh in medical admission fraud
Maharashtra- In a recent medical admission fraud case, the Vishrambaug Police has booked a 32-year-old man from Ambegaon, Maharashtra, on the charge of duping a 60-year-old retired private company employee of Rs 70 lakh on the pretext of getting his son a medical admission into a private medical college.
The victim is a resident of Pune, he approached Vishrambag police after realising he was duped and lodged a complaint.
Informing about the complaint lodged by the victim, assistant police inspector Tukaram Nimbalkar of Vishrambagh police told TOI that the complainant had come in contact with the suspect in 2022. The suspect had allegedly assured the victim of securing admission for his son to a private medical college by claiming to have influential contacts.
To make him believe, the suspect gave him a blank check from his bank and then started extorting money from the victim citing various reasons like filling out the admission form, challan ticket, registration process, college fees, admission deposit, insurance stamp duty and scholarship process.
Only after realising the deception, the victim contact the police and lodge a complaint. Currently, the police are diligently investigating the case to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a cybercrime case, a 22-year-old young MBBS medico from Rourkela, Odisha was allegedly defrauded of Rs 6 lakh by cyber criminals luring her with huge profits on her investments.
