Odisha's MKCG medical college 1st year MBBS student goes missing, search underway

Brahmapur: A first-year MBBS student of MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Odisha's Ganjam district has gone missing, prompting police to launch a search after his mobile phone was recovered from Berhampur railway station.
The student has been missing since 4 days. According to police, he was last seen at Berhampur railway station, where his mobile phone was later found. Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M said a missing persons case was registered at Baidyanathpur police station based on a complaint filed by MKCG Medical College dean/principal Hari Krishna Dalai.
Speaking to PTI, the officials informed, "A first-year MBBS student went missing from his college in Odisha's Ganjam district, prompting police to launch an intensive search. ***, a resident of Kaplai near Kuakhia in Jajpur district, has been missing since Monday."
The student of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital, was last seen at the Berhampur railway station, where police later recovered his mobile phone, they said.

We have verified the CCTV footage at the railway station and intimated other police stations, the SP said, adding that efforts were underway to trace the student.
A relative of the student, said he had spoken to him on Saturday and to his parents a day later.
He had expressed his desire to return to his village Saturday night, but his parents advised him to remain at the college as his examinations were in progress, the relative mentioned.
When the student did not respond to repeated calls Monday afternoon, his parents contacted one of his friends. The friend informed them that he had not appeared for the examination that day and had not returned to the hostel, the relative told PTI.
The family subsequently circulated his photograph on social media and conducted searches at various places, he said.
Medical college officials, however, said the student had appeared for the first paper of the examination, Anatomy.
We have intimated the matter to the police. His parents have also arrived in Berhampur after the incident, the principal said.
