Punjab: Mohali to get new nursing, pharmacy colleges
Mohali: The long-sought demand of the residents of Mohali is going to be fulfilled finally as the state government has approved a new nursing college and a pharmacy College under Dr. BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences in Mohali.
The Health and Labor Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu also confirmed that the colleges are most likely to be operational from the coming academic session.
UNI reports that disclosing this here on Wednesday the Health and Labor Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that the decision has been taken at a virtual meeting. The meeting was attended by the vice-chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Mr. Raj Bahadur, Dr. KK Talwar advisor Health and Medical Education to the state government, Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Husan Lal, and Secretary Medical Education minister DK Tiwari. Other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
Mr. Balbir said that the course of BSc in nursing and pharmacy would be initiated in the next session in new colleges under Dr. BR Ambedkar state institute of Medical Sciences Mohali. Sidhu clarified that in case of paucity of land in the colleges concerned, it would be provided free of cost to the institute. Mr. Sidhu has posted the news on his social media account stating " Considering the prolonged demand of Mohali's residents, State Government has approved the Nursing & Pharmacy Colleges under Dr. BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences in Mohali. The course of B.Sc in Nursing and Pharmacy would be initiated in the next session in new collages." He has also shared snippets of the virtual meeting.
Previously Medical Dialogues team reported that the Medical Education and Research Minister of Punjab, Mr. OP Soni previously informed that authorities are also taking initiative so that the Government Medical College in Mohali also can begin as early as possible while the necessary work for the two medical colleges in Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala is also under construction.
