2 Nursing Officers enter Rajasthan Hospital armed, Threaten Medical Officer; Suspended
Banswara: The Rajasthan government has suspended two nursing officers for allegedly threatening and misbehaving with the medical officer of Paloda Government Hospital in Banswara district. The officers are accused of entering the medical officer's office armed, with the intent to intimidate him or cause harm.
The nursing officers were first arrested by the police, after which the government took strict action and suspended both the nursing officers.
On December 13, the accused entered the hospital premises with a gun to threaten a medical officer. The day before, the accused nursing officers had held the officer hostage in a room at the hospital's Dharamshala for three hours, where they abused and threatened to kill him. Finally, other hospital staff intervened and freed the medical officer from their captivity.
Following this incident, the nursing officers again entered the hospital premises the next day with a gun to threaten him. In response, the medical officer filed a complaint against the accused nursing officers in Lohariya police station and the higher officials of the medical department were informed about this matter. Based on the medical officer's statement, a case was registered for obstruction of government duties and intimidation.
The medical department also took immediate action and formed a committee that reached the CSC (Community Service Center) in charge and conducted a thorough investigation to prepare a full factual report of the case. The report was submitted to CMHO Banswara.
Following the incident, the United Doctors’ Front Association raised the demand to suspend the accused nursing officers. Talking to Medical Dialogues UDF President Dr. Bharat Pareek stated, “The senior nursing officers were not performing their assigned duties daily. When they were questioned about their absence, they claimed that is how they work. Doctors then issued a notice regarding the matter. Yet, they did not come to perform their duties. The altercation soon escalated and the nursing staff surrounded the doctor and kept him confined for three hours and tortured him. The next day when the doctor went to the CMHO office to narrate the ordeal, the accused again came armed with no favourable intention. They kept on searching for the doctor. Even the CCTV Footage went viral. We are happy that the accused got suspended.”
