Sikkim Govt to provide free MBBS education to 50 students
'Poor people from villages aspiring to study medical but unable to due to financial constraints will now be able to do so. Sikkim will have 50 additional doctors holding MBBS degree coming out from Manipal,'' he said while addressing a press conference.
Gangtok: The Sikkim government, in an agreement with the Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences, has arranged for providing free education to 50 students, Political Secretary to Chief Minister Jacob Khaling said on Thursday.
'Poor people from villages aspiring to study medical but unable to due to financial constraints will now be able to do so. Sikkim will have 50 additional doctors holding MBBS degree coming out from Manipal,'' he said while addressing a press conference.
Sikkim Manipal already has 30 seats, where students need to pay fee, Mr Khaling said.
The state with 13.4 per cent positivity rate has been striving for improving the facilities required. A significant step for producing more doctors has been undertaken.
Mr Khaling appealed to students considering medical education to study hard and that they will not be deprived of your choice due to financial constraint.
