18 year old Prayagraj NEET Aspirant commits suicide by shooting herself with father's licensed revolver

Prayagraj: In an unfortunate incident, an 18-year-old NEET aspirant allegedly committed suicide by shooting herself with her father's licensed revolver in Prayagraj district on Monday.
During a preliminary investigation, police recovered a suicide note from the spot, which reportedly read, "I will never be able to clear the NEET examination. Please forgive me".
According to her family members, the aspirant had been under mental stress for some time.

The incident left the family in shock, particularly, when the victim had reportedly qualified for admission to a medical college and her name had figured in the results of the third round of NEET counselling declared earlier in the day, reports the New Indian express
The girl, a resident of Trivenipuram locality under the Jhunsi police station area, was preparing for the next cycle of the National Eligibility-Entrance Test (NEET), Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Sagar Jain said.
According to her family, she used to study till 4-5 am and wake up at around 2.30 pm. When she did not wake up by 3 pm on Monday, family members went to check on her and discovered the incident, Jain told PTI.
As per latest TOI report, the incident took place when the aspirant went into the room and locked it from inside. Later the family members heard a gunshot. When they managed to open the door, they found her with a gunshot injury and immediately informed the police.
DCP City Sagar Jain told TOI, "Prima facie the case appears to be a suicide. During the investigation, it emerged that the girl was reportedly upset as her name did not figure in the final list of candidates selected through NEET UG counselling. A licensed pistol has been recovered from the spot and sent for ballistic and forensic examination. Preliminary evidence indicates that the shot was fired at point-blank range, suggesting it could be a case of suicide. However, we are examining all possible angles and the investigation is underway."
Police have sent her body for a post-mortem examination, and further legal proceedings are underway.
