Meerut 1st year MBBS student found dead in hostel

Meerut: In a tragic incident, a 19-year-old MBBS first-year student at Meerut's Subharti University was found dead. According to the police, the medico allegedly died by suicide in his hostel room on Saturday.
The incident came to light when fellow students went to his room in the afternoon for some work but received no response. The police were subsequently informed. Upon entering the room, cops found the student hanging. His body was taken into custody and sent for a post-mortem examination.
Speaking to PTI, the police informed, "The body of a first-year MBBS student at a private university in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut was found hanging from a noose in his hostel room on Saturday afternoon. The police conducted a forensic examination of the room and seized his mobile phone and other belongings, and sent the body for post-mortem examination."
SHO of Jani, Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, said that the deceased student has been identified as son of inspector in the Uttar Pradesh Police and is currently posted in Muzaffarnagar.

According to Mishra, preliminary investigations suggest that it appears to be a case of suicide, though the reasons for the student taking this extreme step are not yet known.
Media in-charge of Subharti University said that the incident occurred at around 12.30 pm on Saturday. He was staying in room number 122 of the 'Dr Kotnis' hostel block. He had moved into the hostel on November 20. In the afternoon, fellow students knocked on his room door, but received no response. Subsequently, the hostel administration and the police were informed, reports PTI
"The exact reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained. The student's mobile phone and other belongings have been seized for analysis. Forensic teams have inspected the room and have taken samples from the room for examination," Ashutosh Kumar, CO Sardhana told TOI.
He added that no FIR has been filed so far.
