Meerut medical college doctor accused of molesting intern in classroom, committee to probe matter
Meerut: A junior doctor attached to Meerut Medical College, Uttar Pradesh has been accused of molesting a female intern inside the classroom, following which a three-member committee has been constituted by the Principal of the institute to probe the case.
This came after the angry trainee doctors, triggered by the alleged harassment staged a protest demanding action against the accused doctor. The trainee doctors of the institute gheraoed the medical college's principal and also filed a written complaint at the Medical police station.
As per a recent media report in Times Now, the woman intern has been identified as a doctor who is pursuing her internship at the medical college and is a resident of the Sonbhadra district.
In her complaint, the woman intern alleged that the accused doctor found her in the classroom and allegedly made unwanted advances towards her and molested her. Times Now reports that when she raised objections, the accused warned her and threatened her by throwing her out of the class. The female doctor further alleged that the doctor had been harassing her in the past as well.
The female intern narrated the ordeal to her batchmates which aggravated the trainee doctors. Thereafter, trainee doctors staged a protest demanding action on the incident. Later, the doctors reportedly approached the Medical Police station and demanded strict action against the accused.
The Circle Officer (CO) Devesh Singh talked to the medical trainees and convinced them that action will be taken in the case. Besides, the protesting doctors also approached the medical college's principal and demanded a suspension of the accused doctor.
The principal has assured a department investigation of the incident. Dr Gyanendra Kumar, Principal, Meerut Medical College stated, "We have formed a three-member committee to probe the case. A separate committee has also been formed to record the statement of the victim.".
