UP: 5 medical colleges to implement e-office regime

Lucknow: Taking digitisation to the next level, the UP government has now decided to implement an e-office framework within the medical institutions of the state. The move will start with 5 leading medical colleges across the state

Brajesh Pathak, the state's deputy chief minister, said on Tuesday that five medical institutions will adopt an e-office regime to digitise all official communication and activity. The minister stated that implementing an E-office work culture will improve quality and transparency. He claimed that Rs 74.3 crore had been set aside for this purpose, and that the work had been assigned to UP Electronics Corporation.

As per a report in Times of India, The Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Kalyan Singh Super-Speciality Cancer Institute, King George's Medical University, and Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College in Kanpur have been chosen.

The goal of the e-office system is to aid governance by facilitating effective and transparent inter- and intra-government process. The goal of e-office is to make government offices more efficient, responsive, effective, and transparent. According to an official, its open architecture makes it a reusable foundation and a standard product that can be replicated across national, state, and district administrations. According to the official, the product combines independent functions and systems into a single framework.

Earlier this year, Medical Dialogues wrote on how West Bengal made progress towards digitalization by offering E-prescriptions in all state-run medical institutes and hospitals. E-prescriptions were implemented with the purpose of preserving patient data and case histories.

The West Bengal health department's decision earlier this year to implement E-prescriptions at all state-run health facilities in the state is intended to bring about a permanent solution to the teething problem of retaining patient data and case histories.
