Bengal 19-year-old NEET aspirant shot dead, accused arrested

Krishnanagar: In a tragic incident, a 19-year-old NEET aspirant was found dead inside her home with gunshot wounds after being allegedly shot by her ex-boyfriend at her residence in Krishnanagar.
The accused, identified as a 23-year-old from Kanchrapara in North 24 Parganas, has been arrested by the police, and an investigation to determine the motive of the murder is underway.
According to the police, the accused and the girl grew close in 2023 while studying in Kanchrapara, but the relationship ended recently after she chose to cut ties. Police suspect that the murder was motivated by personal reasons stemming from the breakdown of the relationship.

As per a recent media report, the deceased had secured admission to Victoria College in 2023 but deferred her enrollment to focus on preparing for the NEET exam, as she aspired to study medicine.
The attack took place in a residential area right opposite Krishnagar Women’s College, close to several high-security buildings, including the Circuit House and the District Magistrate’s residence.
On Monday, when the girl was alone at home, the accused allegedly entered the house and shot her at point-blank range. Neighbours said they heard a gunshot and rushed to the spot, but found the girl grievously injured. She was taken to Shaktinagar District Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
The local resident told NDTV, “She had just been admitted to college. Nobody was at home. Her father had gone to the office, and her mother had gone to pick up her son from school. A man entered the house suddenly and killed her. One round was fired. Only one man was there at the house. We were at a distance. We rushed to the spot after hearing the shot.”
