Uttarakhand AYUSH Doctors end strike after Govt assurance on demands

Dehradun: The Government Ayurvedic and Unani Medical Services Association has called its strike after the Uttarakhand Government assured a time-bound decision on promotions and other demands raised by AYUSH doctors. 

The decision followed a meeting chaired by AYUSH Minister Shri Madan Kaushik at the Assembly building on Wednesday. During the meeting, the minister held detailed discussions with representatives of the association on seven key demands related to promotions, departmental restructuring, attendance systems and pending administrative issues.

According to officials, some of the demands placed by the association were accepted immediately, while the remaining issues have been referred to the department for further examination and appropriate action. The government has also directed senior officials to address the concerns raised by the doctors in a systematic and time-bound manner. 

The minister added that the government has adopted a positive approach toward the demands of the association. As part of the decisions taken in the meeting, a deadline of one and a half months has been fixed for completing the process related to promotion to the post of departmental Additional Director, according to the Jagran report.

The minister also directed officials to complete annual confidential reports on time so that pending promotion-related cases can be resolved within a month. He further directed to expedite the restructuring of the departmental cadre and to examine ways to enhance promotion opportunities for doctors serving in the AYUSH department. 

The meeting also reviewed technical difficulties due to the mobile app-based attendance system and biometric arrangements. Officials were asked to resolve these issues at the earliest to ensure the smooth functioning of services and reduce inconvenience to employees.

Following the assurances from the government, the association called of its strike. The move is expected to help restore routine services in AYUSH facilities across the state. 

The association also expressed its commitment to actively participating in International Yoga Day programmes scheduled across Uttarakhand on June 21 and contributing to creating a positive environment. 

AYUSH Secretary Ranjana Rajguru, Additional Secretary Vijay Kumar Jogdande and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
