Assam: Junior Doctor attempts suicide, rescued by colleagues

A junior doctor who was recently posted in the Kalain Community Health Centre as part of rural service after graduating from Silchar Medical College and Hospital was found unconscious at his rented apartment in Kalain. The doctor is reported to have attempted suicide.

The doctor, a resident of College Road, Silchar, stayed in a rented room near the hospital. The doctor was reportedly drenched in blood and was located on the floor. The doctor's colleagues found his unconscious body when he didn't show up at the health centre for work.

Medical Council will Decide: No HC relief to aster medcity doctors accused of professional misconduct while organ transplantation

The Kerala High Court recently held that the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994 does not prohibit an authority under Indian Medical Council (Professional conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002 from issuing notice and conducting inquiry regarding allegations of misconduct in transplantation of human organs.

Therefore, the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice S. Manikumar and Justice Shaji P. Chaly dismissed the appeals by the doctors who had challenged the show cause notice issued to them over allegations of misconduct in organ transplantation surgeries.

NMC says no increasing MS general surgery seats at GMCH Nagpur

In a setback to Nagpur based Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), the National Medical Commission (NMC) has denied giving its nod for increasing the Post Graduate seats of Department of Surgery, MS General Surgery.

Although the Surgery Department already has 22 PG medical seats, it had applied for 6 more seats. However, after conducting the inspection, the NMC team pointed out some deficiencies and denied granting permission for increasing the seats, reports The Hitavada.

Tamil Nadu: Govt doctors wear Demand Badges to work, seek Govt's intervention

Various government doctors in Chennai wore demand badges to work as part of their efforts to bring the government's attention to some of their long pending demands, including salary rises and long staff working hours.

The doctors are planning to hold a demonstration later this month in Chennai as part of their protests.

In a statement released by the Federation of Government Doctors Association (FOGDA), they observed that the Government Order (GO) 354, which guaranteed pay progression and should have been reviewed in 2017, was still pending. It observed that the delay has led to disappointment amongst government doctors who had played an essential role during the COVID-19 period.
