After NEET PG Postponement, aspirants urge NBE to defer NEET MDS 2024 Exam till July
New Delhi: Following the postponement of the NEET-PG 2024 examination from March to July this year, the aspirants for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) MDS exam have been demanding the postponement of the exam.
Taking to social media platforms, the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) aspirants have started urging the authorities to defer the exam till July 2024, just like the entrance examination for the PG medical courses. Some of the aspirants have demanded to know the exact date for the exam.
As per the examination calendar for 2024, which was earlier released by NEET MDS, the exam was earlier scheduled to be held on February 9, 2024. Even though there are less than 30 days left for the exam, there is no clarity from the authorities regarding the exam.
The National Chairman of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) Dr. Rohan have also urged the authorities to release the date for NEET MDS. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Dr. Krishnan mentioned in a post, "Requesting @NbeIndia, @MoHFW_INDIA to also release the tentative date of NEET MDS. @mansukhmandviya ji @dentalcouncil8 @FAIMA_INDIA_"
Meanwhile, an online petition has started collecting signatures to defer the exam. The petition, available on student-network.meriters.com, shall be shared with the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) once it receives 5000 signatures in favour of postponement.

Addressing the NBE officials, the online petition pointed out how the NEET PG 2024 exam has been postponed to July 2024. It mentioned, "This online letter/petition is being presented to you to voice the concerns of thousands of NEET MDS 2024 aspirants. As per the recent announcement by NBE, the NEET MDS 2024 exam is tentatively scheduled to be conducted on February 9th, 2024. While there has been a notification that NEET PG Medical which was earlier scheduled to be conducted on March 03, 2024 is now postponed to July, 2024."
"There has been no notification regarding NEET MDS 2024, with regards to application forms or postponement. This is creating a lot of unnecessary confusion and anxiety among NEET MDS aspirants. Given that irrespective of when the exam is conducted, counseling of both medical and dental students happens at the same time, we believe postponing the NEET MDS exam as well to July would be the sensible thing to do," it further mentioned, urging the officials to consider the plight of students on the matter at the earliest. The signatures of 3159 students were also added to the petition. Several students have opined that the exam should be postponed by at least 2 months.
Several students have opined that it would be unfair if the NEET MDS exam does not get postponed when the NEET PG exam got deferred till July. One user wrote in an X post, "They always start the counselling process for NEET pg and NEET MDS together, then why can’t they release the dates for both of them together, also it would be unfair for us if it’s not postponed till july. #NeetMDS".
Further, many students have also pointed out that the schedule of NEET MDS on 9th Feb was given only on a tentative basis and there has been no update regarding the same even though the exam is less than 30 days away.
"Would it be fair to conduct the exam on 9th feb when the students were only told that it’s a tentative date and there has been no update about it’s confirmation even when exam is less than 30 days away? #NEETMDS," an X user wrote.
Demanding clarity on the matter, another student mentioned, "Disheartened by the action of NBE No clarification of NEET MDS Date Putting thousands of students in shadow.#Mentaltorture #injustice Release the notification asap."
Meanwhile, addressing the queries by the students regarding the NEET MDS exam date, the National Zonal Coordinator of IMA MSN and also a Health Activist Dr. Dhruv Chauhan mentioned, "Lot of queries regarding NEET MDS Just to clear “Keep following the same study routine you were following earlier for the same date”."
