Discrepancy Between NMC, DME Lists: Admissions to 23 PG Medical seats in Karnataka Put on HOLD
Bengaluru: Due to the discrepancy between the list of approved postgraduate medical seats provided by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and prepared by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), the State DME has put admission to 23 PG medical seats on hold.
Even though these seats were not included in the first round of counselling, which was recently completed, they would be added in the upcoming rounds of counselling subject to the condition that NMC approves these seats, TOI has reported.
These 23 PG medical seats include PG medical seats belonging to seven private medical colleges and some of these seats are from the most sought-after courses such as dermatology, general surgery, Orthopaedics, obstetrics, and Gynaecology.
As per the latest media report by the Times of India, after the NMC published the seat matrix of all PG medical courses for 2024-2025 on November 18, the Directorate set up a committee to prepare the seat matrix- after verifying the NMC website, RGUHS data, and the data submitted by the medical colleges. However, these numbers did not match.
